Math
Click the picture of the
math book to be taken to the enVision math sign in page. Here you will have access to your math book online, as well as some other beneficial tools. Click here to go to Xtra Math.
Please try to do a minimum of 5 minutes of fact practice at least three times a week. Daily is even better! Select your name and use the LAST four digits of your lunch code. If your code is 12345, you would use 2345. To increase fact fluency, we will be using a program called Rocket Math. Click here to learn more.

Please make sure students log on via my website. IXL can be accessed for free-but if they are not on our Brandywine account there is no way I can see the work completed, and they cannot get credit for that work. If they don't see stars highlighted in yellow, they aren't logged in properly. Some of these assignments will be pulled for classwork grades. These are pulled randomly, so the students should do their best on all of the IXLs and Practice Buddies that are assigned. There are other IXLs that are highlighted yellow, but these are not mandatory. They are just good practice for our current Topic.
The students are also logged in to Xtra Math for fact practice. If your child is not fluent in their facts, please practice for five minutes or so each night. |
Once signed in on enVision's site, click on "programs" and then on whichever topic and lesson we are working with. Here you can view the videos we show in class, as well as a second video called "another look". The "another look" videos are also available in the math centers for each topic. You can access the centers from my Math Help page.
While on enVision's site, if you click on "classes" you can access the most recent assignments the students have completed online. Click on "completed" and then on the assignment. You can then see which questions were answered incorrectly, and review these with your child. I prefer this page to the grades page. It is easier to navigate, and you can still see the percentage scored on the assignments.
Please keep in mind that the average and score you see on enVision's site might not be the one entered as your child's grade. Some online assignments are strictly for data, and not used towards grading. Sometimes we do pretest assignments to assess prior knowledge. These scores would appear low because the concepts haven't been addressed yet; but there is no way for us to keep them from being factored into the online scoring within enVision. So please, do not fret too much over what you may see posted as scores on enVision's site. Many other factors are considered in developing your child's grade. We will be giving a homework completion grade, which is more of an effort grade. We will also be giving fact test grades and computation assessments. These other scored assignments do not appear on enVision's site, but will be factored into your child's actual grade. You can see the actual progress on Home Access Center.
Click here for a great article called "A Parent's Guide to Surviving Common Core Math". The article explains the premise behind the new way of teaching math; and also gives advice on how to help your kids with their homework.
